Ang Thong National Marine Park is a beautiful archipelago made up of 42 islands located southwest of Koh Phangan. The park encompasses 18 square km of islands and 84 square km of marine environment. The beautiful islands boast sheer limestone cliffs, white sandy beaches, hidden lagoons, and an amazing inland lake. There is a considerable amount of wildlife inhabiting the islands including the Asian long-tailed monkey (langur), hair-nosed otters, pacific reef egrets, white-bellied sea eagles, ashy drongos, tortoises, sea turtles, lizards and pythons. |

We visit Thale Nai, a beautiful emerald saltwater lake, located on Koh Mae Koh and then climb to the highest point to have a view of all the islands. We also visit Tham Bua Bok which is a Wating Lotus Cave named after its amazing stalactite and stagmite formations. The marine park was named "Ang Thong" or "Golden Jar" after its beautiful lagoon formed by the islands. Ang Thong National Marine park has become world famous from the movie "The Beach" |
